NOPRISM IS_

Taking in the sounds of Gramme, Talking Heads and the 70s New York disco scene via Justice and Ed Banger records, Carpenter Brut and Todd Terje, NOPRISM make pop music. Throw in the likes of !!! and The Rapture too and you get the idea.

Tipped as one of BBC Introducing North East's picks for 2022, 'Pantherbeat' had Radio 1's Jack Saunders lavishing the praise, whilst previous release 'Happiness' gained some notable achievements, featuring on E4 show 'Made in Chelsea' and being championed by Simon LeBon as 'perhaps the best new song ever'. Happiness also placed the band into Spotify's 'Hot New Bands' playlist.

Having some notable achievements with previous bands - including Maida Vale Radio 1 sessions and interviews for both Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe, alongside an MTV tour with Editors and festival appearances at Reading/Leeds and Wireless Festival - NOPRISM is a new project which explores more of the disco and new wave elements of the band's record collections.

Previous singles ‘Pieces’ and 'House of Smith' achieved over 50k and 45k Spotify streams in the first few weeks of release, gaining some great soundbites along the way, as well as spins on BBC’s Introducing shows. 5 more of NOPRISM's songs casually uploaded to the BBC’s platform have all been given BBC Introducing airtime, along with being playlisted by XS Manchester's Evening Show.

"This is great. The synths flourish, they cascade, they blossom. It's fucking brilliant." - Jack Saunders, Radio 1 / MTV (on Pantherbeat) - Watch

“It's got that big 80s sound but it's very modern sounding.. it's fire!" - Jack Saunders, Radio 1 / MTV - Watch

"I love NOPRISM. (Happiness) could be the best new song ever!" - WHOOOSH! with Simon Le Bon and Katy Krassner. Listen here.

“That was Pantherbeat from one of our favourite bands, NOPRISM. I feel responsible for discovering them" Simon Le Bon

"What a thrill to have these sounds run and reverberate through the bones again. There is a comradery amidst the band’s music, like a work crew out for drinks at their favorite watering hole now that the job is done. Next round’s on me! That sense of giving is what makes up the music of this band across the pond." - American Songwriter

“Pantherbeat” goes a bit darker. It piles on layers of stammering synths atop a thundering beat. There’s a big breakdown at the midway point where the synths blast off into twinkling madness. I love everything about it.” - Synthpop fanatic

"Hooks that Nile Rogers would be proud of and production that Daft Punk would be happy to put their name to. " - It's All Indie

“It’s easy to see why they’re garnering so much buzz… the synthesiser beats crackle with nostalgia but are absolutely RELENTLESS when it comes to launching beats at you. It is a beast of a disco and fits right in on a dancefloor designed to terrify you into dancing.” - Sounds Good

"Returning with new single ‘Pieces’, synthpop duo NOPRISM have produced yet another hook-ladened pop masterpiece." - Central Music

"Well, that's a bit of an epic" - Nick Roberts, BBC Introducing

"The guitar and synth solos are magical and something you rarely hear on one single." - The Other Side

"Dive into their discography and listen to the rest of their material, which is freaking outstanding might I say." - A1234 Blog

"With a mixture of pulsing guitars and soaring synths, 'House Of Smith' takes the bold sound of Depeche Mode and brings it to a euphoric and energetic destination." - Mystic Sons

"Latest release ‘Pieces’ is an indie-pop classic in the making." - FVMusic

"You really do need to keep an eye on these two and with BBC Introducing giving them plenty of airtime it really won't be much longer until they release a cracking EP." - It's all indie

"A baptism of electro-pop, Noprism’s latest single is a euphoric prayer" - Track of the day Chalkpit Records

"‘Pieces’ is a song that made us want to dance through our sufferings, and we know full well we all need this, especially in these quarantine times." - Novamusic
